The companions of the Prophet endured boycott, abuse, and danger, but their faith stayed strong because the Quran connected them to Allah and the Hereafter. Their gradual spiritual preparation helped them accept difficult commands and face Ramadan and the Battle of Badr with courage. As Ramadan approaches, we are urged to begin building our own relationship with the Quran now, not wait for the first day. We should fast with sincere faith, pray at night, seek Laylatul Qadr, and let the Quran remain with us after Ramadan. Friday also gives us special opportunities, including sending blessings upon the Prophet and leaving business when the prayer is called.
