Let Allah guide every decision
“Always ask yourself how do you make decisions.”
A meaningful and successful life comes from making Allah the authority guiding every decision and using His gifts in obedience before death closes the opportunity to prepare for the afterlife.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Calls listeners to renew closeness to Allah through remembrance, praise, prayer, and obedience.
- Explains that true victory, honor, wealth, guidance, and good life come through Allah’s pleasure and a sound heart.
- Frames human life as a responsibility to build and improve the earth under tawhid.
- Distinguishes Allah as Rabb, the Creator and provider, from Ilah, the authority who guides choices.
- Warns against comparing Allah’s attributes and actions to those of created beings.
- Uses recent deaths and mortality to urge repentance, generosity, and preparation for the afterlife while opportunity remains.
In the khateeb's words
“You are here to build the earth To make the earth A better place For you And for every human being”
“Always ask yourself How do you make decisions Who do you trust That's your ilah Subhanahu wa ta'ala”
“The market is open You can buy Yourself For the afterlife And the price Is obedience To Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us to grow closer to Allah by remembering Him, praising Him, and asking for His mercy and help. He explained that real success comes through obedience to Allah and has value beyond this life. Our devotion belongs in everyday life, including school, work, and home, as we help make the earth a better place for others. He encouraged us to notice what guides our decisions and to put Allah's guidance first. Remembering people who have died, he urged us to use the time we still have well, sharing our money, time, abilities, and other blessings, and making dua for those who have passed away.
- What is one blessing you want to thank Allah for today?
- How could you use your time or a talent to help someone this week?
