Prophet Yusuf teaches patience through every trial
“You need to slow down and pause for a second.”
By following Prophet Yusuf’s example, believers, especially men, should cultivate patience, trust in Allah, integrity, forgiveness, and sacrificial service while returning to the Quran before Ramadan.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Praises Allah and urges listeners to begin engaging deeply with the Quran before Ramadan.
- Develops three forms of patience: obedience, refraining from sin, and enduring trials.
- Defines tawakkul as trusting Allah while using lawful means, with honesty and integrity.
- Calls for forgiveness, gratitude, sacrifice, prayer, and community service, especially in Baltimore.
- Closes with supplication, a request for Salat al-Gha'ib for Sister Jamila, and prayer recitation.
In the khateeb's words
“You need to slow down And pause for a second Realign and readjust The way you think”
“The most beloved People to Allah Are those Who people benefit From them the most”
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminded us to be grateful for the Quran and to begin preparing for Ramadan before it arrives. Through the story of Prophet Yusuf, it highlighted patience, honesty, resisting temptation, trusting Allah, forgiveness, and service. These qualities are not only for leaders or scholars; they belong in our homes, choices, and relationships. We were encouraged to support prayer with patience and good example, while trusting Allah and taking responsible steps. The khutbah ended with a call to use our talents and opportunities to benefit our community.
- What is one small Quran habit you would like to build before Ramadan?
- When has patience helped you handle a difficult moment?
- How could our family serve or help someone in our community this week?
