Sincere repentance restores your relationship with Allah

“Whenever we sin, whenever we fall short, whenever we make a mistake, it is our instinct and our default to turn back to Allah.”

The khateeb, at 25:13

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that our deepest purpose is to worship Allah, even though every human being makes mistakes. Feeling regret can be a sign of faith, and tawbah gives us a way to return to Allah instead of feeling hopeless or unworthy. Sincere repentance begins with acknowledging the wrong, asking Allah for forgiveness, intending to stop, and removing things that lead us toward sin. We can grow through these steps gradually, without expecting instant perfection. Allah’s mercy is immense, so our default should be to turn back to Him whenever we fall short.

  1. What is one mistake you can turn into a chance to ask Allah for forgiveness?
  2. What habit, app, or influence helps you do good, and which one might you need to limit?
  3. What does it mean to make tawbah sincerely?
