Tests should bring Muslims closer to Allah
“The more pressure you have because you're a Muslim, the stronger we are supposed to become.”
When Muslims face pressure, suffering, and uncertainty, they should strengthen iman by returning to Allah through the Quran, the Prophet’s guidance, dhikr, and steadfast practice.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Opening announcements address phone etiquette, child safety, community illness and deaths, and quiet attention during the khutbah.
- The sermon frames Muslim suffering, social pressure, family strain, and doubts as tests that should strengthen iman.
- Listeners are urged to follow Muhammad’s guidance, recite and understand the Quran, and remember Allah through dhikr.
- The youths in the cave and earlier believers illustrate steadfastness under persecution and reliance on Allah.
- Surah al-Anbiya is used to emphasize judgment, accountability, distinguishing halal from haram, and avoiding doubtful matters.
- The khutbah closes with prayers for faith, the sick, the deceased, oppressed Muslims, and children’s religious education announcements.
In the khateeb's words
“the more pressure you have because you're a Muslim, the stronger we are supposed to become.”
“Every time you face with a test Whatever it may be. Allah is bringing us closer to Him.”
“We have to continue listening. We have to continue coming to the Quran, recite it, listen to it. understand it and make it something in our life to change our life.”
“We should know I'm a Muslim and Allah would protect me. Allah is my helper. Allah is my protector.”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminded us to turn toward Allah when life feels hard and when we see others suffering. The khateeb encouraged us to strengthen our faith through the Quran, the Prophet’s guidance, and remembering Allah. He invited us to find quiet moments to make dua and ask Allah for help. He also reminded us that Allah judges justly and that even our smallest deeds matter. As a family, we can keep learning together, support one another through difficulties, and pray for our parents, children, those who are sick, and those facing oppression.
- What helps you remember Allah when you have had a difficult day?
- What is one small act of kindness you could do tomorrow?
- Who would you like us to make dua for together tonight?
