For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that learning should help us grow into better people and act on what we know. The khateeb compared knowing facts about Allah without building a relationship with Him to knowing the chemistry of coffee without ever tasting it. He encouraged us to find our worth in our relationship with Allah instead of depending on popularity, appearance, money, or other people’s approval. He reminded us that Allah wants us to turn towards Him, whatever our background or circumstances. He also explained that pleasure is something Allah created, and that placing boundaries around our desires can help us live with greater ease and closeness to Him.
