For the dinner table

Allah gave us intelligence, bodies, and hearts as trusts, and our purpose is to use them in obedience to Him. The khutbah teaches that the heart directs our choices, so arrogance, jealousy, distraction, and attachment to material things can make it spiritually sick. We can care for the heart by turning to Allah, learning the Quran's meaning a few verses at a time, and making dhikr with attention. It is never too late to repent and change while we are alive and healthy. The message is to begin now, because our time is short and a sound heart is what we hope to bring before Allah.

  1. What is one small habit that could help your heart remember Allah this week?
  2. Which short surah do you know, and what would you like to understand better about it?
  3. How can we notice when our phones or desires are pulling us away from what is right?
