For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that when we leave something sincerely for Allah, He can replace it with something better, whether worldly, spiritual, or saved for the Hereafter. This sacrifice should come from awareness of Allah, not merely inability, embarrassment, health concerns, or social custom. Stories of Suhaib al-Rumi, an honest shepherd, and an elderly man who returned lost gold show how faithfulness can bring freedom, peace, provision, and lasting good. We are encouraged to examine our lives and give up sins, harmful habits, distractions, or permissible activities that keep us from higher priorities. We should act for Allah’s pleasure and trust that His reward comes at the right time and in the right form.

  2. What does it mean to remember that Allah sees and knows what we do?
  3. When might a better replacement be something other than money or possessions?
