For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us to seek what benefits us, ask Allah for help, and keep trying. Before we act, we should plan carefully, work hard, and seek good advice; afterward, we entrust the outcome to Allah. When things turn out differently from what we hoped, he encouraged us to avoid getting trapped in repeated “what if” thoughts. He described how hardship can bring us closer to Allah through prayer, dua, and charity, and encouraged us to notice the blessings we still have. He closed with a dua asking Allah to help us use what we receive, and the space left by what we do not receive, to do what pleases Him.
