Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Oct 24, 2025.

Purify your heart before secrets are exposed

“Some of the greatest acts of worship are those that are done when no one else can see.”

The khateeb, at 12:34

Because Allah will expose every hidden intention, deed, and sin on the Day of Judgment, believers should purify their hearts through sincere repentance, private good deeds, guarded private lives, and renewed intentions.

For the dinner table

The khateeb asked us to think about who we are when nobody else is watching, reminding us that Allah knows what is hidden in our hearts. He focused on our intentions, our private good deeds, and our private sins, encouraging us to do ordinary things sincerely for Allah. Quiet charity, forgiving someone, and making dua for a struggling person can become secret treasures between us and Allah. He reminded us that sincere repentance offers a fresh start and urged us to avoid spreading other people's faults. He also encouraged families to make Eid special and nurture their children's Muslim identity. For the coming week, he suggested doing one private good deed each day, stopping a private sin, and making time each night to speak to Allah without distractions.

  1. What ordinary chore could become a way to please Allah through your intention?
  2. How could we remind ourselves to do something kind without needing praise?
  3. What would help you put your phone aside for a quiet moment of dua?
