For the dinner table

Today the khateeb told us that some verses in the Qur'an work like a formula: if you do this, Allah promises that will happen. His favorite one is in Surah At-Talaq: whoever has taqwa, meaning they always remember that Allah is watching and try to please Him, Allah will make a way out of their difficulties and give them provision from places they never expected. He gave simple examples, like lowering your gaze when no one is around, not cheating a customer, and not shouting back at someone who is rude to you. He reminded us that even in hard moments like a divorce, Muslims should stay honest and honorable and never use lies or revenge to hurt each other or keep children from a parent. He also warned us not to chase money the wrong way, including gambling, lottery tickets, and betting apps, because the provision Allah has written for us will reach us anyway, so we should take it the halal way. At the end, two people, Pierre and Alexis, became Muslim, and the whole masjid celebrated with them.

  1. When was a time this week you did the right thing even though nobody was watching?
  2. The khateeb said good health and a good family are also rizq. What is one blessing you have that isn't money?
  3. If a friend showed you a betting game or scratch card and said it was cool, what could you say?
