For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that hijrah, the migration of the Prophet and the first believers, can also help us think about moving closer to Allah in everyday life. He encouraged us to renew our intentions so that our worship comes from the heart. Gathering to enjoy a game can bring happiness and community, but it should not make us forget prayer or people suffering nearby and around the world. Through Suhaib's story of leaving his wealth behind, he invited us to consider what we are willing to sacrifice for Allah. He closed by asking Allah to bring our hearts closer together, keep them open to others, and grant us a beautiful ending.

  1. What good thing could you do tomorrow with a fresh intention to please Allah?
  2. How could our family make time for prayer when we are enjoying a game or show?
  3. What could we do together this week to care for someone who is struggling?
