For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah created us with different strengths, including in the ways we find joy and steadiness in worship. Some people feel especially connected through prayer or reading the Qur’an, while others are drawn to charity, learning, or serving their community. The khateeb explained that the Prophet guided people with attention to their individual qualities, and the companions served Islam through different strengths. We still need to fulfill our shared obligations, even while growing in the good deeds that come more naturally to us. Discovering those strengths can help us build consistent habits, add other good deeds, and leave behind actions that displease Allah.

  1. Which good deed helps you feel close to Allah, and what do you enjoy about it?
  2. What strength do you notice in someone in our family that they could use to help others?
  3. What small act of worship or kindness could we practice together this week?
