For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah explored Surah al-Zumar and its picture of people being welcomed into Jannah or driven toward Hellfire. Allah made us, cares for us, and invites us to worship Him with sincere intentions. A believer balances reverent fear of the Hereafter with hope in Allah’s mercy, like a bird using two wings. The Quran should soften and transform our hearts, leading us to forgive, examine ourselves, and trust Allah. We can practice by renewing our intentions, remembering Allah before sleep and after waking, thanking Him for each day, and never despairing of His forgiveness.
- What is one ordinary thing you can do this week with a sincere intention for Allah?
- When might you need more hope, and when might you need a reminder to make better choices?
- What can you do before bed or after waking to remember Allah's care?
