Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today we talked about how parents are responsible for guiding and protecting their families. Children can be pulled away from parents, elders, scholars, and the masjid by busy work lives, technology, and peer influence, so families should rebuild a wise and worshipful community around them. Parents also need to work on themselves by learning healthy parenting and following the Prophet’s example of listening, showing mercy, giving affection, and adapting care as children grow. Most of all, we should give our children real time by sitting, eating, talking, and being present with them.

  1. Which adults or elders help you make wise choices, and how can you spend more time with them?
  2. What helps you feel listened to and cared for at home?
  3. What family time would you like us to protect each week?
