See worldly blessings through the akhirah

“The call towards the next world is not for a person to become absent to the present world.”

The khateeb, at 27:45

In one sentence

Muslims should view worldly blessings, hardship, wealth, and responsibility through an akhirah-centered perspective without abandoning productive life in this world.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  2. Explains that faith fluctuates and uses the companions’ suffering to show the temporary nature of dunya and certainty of the akhirah.
  3. Contrasts a dunya-centered life of anxiety and overextension with an akhirah-centered life of inner richness, contentment, and barakah.
  4. Encourages avoiding haram, accepting Allah’s provision, honoring neighbors, and reviewing one’s week through Surah al-Kahf.
  5. Describes Jannah and Allah’s pleasure as the ultimate reward for patience, sacrifice, worship, and service to family and others.

For the dinner table

The khutbah asks us to keep an akhirah-centered perspective while still working, earning, raising families, and enjoying Allah’s blessings. Money, health, children, youth, and success are gifts and tests, so we should use them gratefully and remember we will answer for them. Faith naturally rises and falls, but we can renew it by avoiding what is forbidden, being content with Allah’s provision, praying when blessings arrive, and reviewing our week. Hardship, loss, and sacrifice are not meaningless when met with patience and trust in Allah’s reward. The goal is not to abandon this life, but to live in it wisely so that Allah is pleased with us.
