For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that life is short and every person will answer to Allah. The best preparation is not memorizing answers for the grave, but choosing Allah, following the Prophet, and making prayer truly important now. We were encouraged to pray as though it were our last prayer and to treat each meeting with family and friends as precious. Since our choices before death are still in our hands, we should improve our lives and live in a way we hope to die. The closing dua asks Allah to strengthen families and the Muslim community, help oppressed Muslims, and grant us a beautiful end.

  1. What prayer or conversation would you treat differently if it might be your last?
