For the dinner table

Today's khutbah was about Jannah, the real and eternal happiness we are all working toward. The khateeb described its rivers of fresh water, milk, and honey, and how the angels will greet its people with peace because of the patience they showed in this life. Unlike the blessings of this world, which we eventually lose or get bored of, every gift in Jannah will feel brand new, and its people will even grow more beautiful every Friday. He reminded us that no eye has seen and no mind can comprehend what Allah has prepared, and that the greatest blessing of all will be Allah's pleasure and never being displeased with us again. Finally, he shared five simple ways to get there: saying Sayyid al-Istaghfar, giving up arguing even when we're right, praying the obligatory prayers, fasting Ramadan, and reciting Ayat al-Kursi after each prayer. He ended by asking Allah to make the path to Jannah easy for all of us.

  1. If the people of Jannah grow more beautiful every Friday, what's one thing you're most curious to see there?
  2. Which of the five easy deeds from the khutbah should our family try together this week?
