Prepare for death while living

“The best remedy, the best antidote, is remembering the hereafter.”

The khateeb, at 8:08

In one sentence

Because life is brief and death certain, Muslims should treat this world as a temporary means to the hereafter, keep their hearts alive through remembrance and repentance, and prepare spiritually and practically through wills, janazah plans, and charity.

  6. The community must care for isolated Muslims after death, and listeners should give sadaqah before their wealth passes to heirs.

For the dinner table

Life is short, and the sermon reminded us that this world is a temporary vehicle, not our final home. We should keep our spiritual hearts alive by remembering Allah, repenting, and using our time for good. Preparing for death also means doing practical work now: making a will, organizing assets, and recording burial and janazah wishes. Our community should make sure lonely Muslims are not forgotten when they die. We can also give charity while we are alive, before our wealth passes to others.

  3. How could we notice and help someone in our community who feels alone?
