The khateeb reminded us that Muharram is a special opportunity to draw closer to Allah through fasting when we are able, gratitude, and reflection. He shared how Musa trusted Allah when his people felt trapped, reminding us to hold on to hope when we see suffering and injustice. Through the story of Nuh, he taught that we should take the steps available to us while depending on Allah’s guidance and mercy. He also asked us to look honestly at ourselves and make sure we are not hurting others, especially those closest to us. Finally, he reminded us to love the Prophet’s household and honor them by following their example of knowledge and obedience to Allah.
