Death & the hereafterFrom the masjid's own video, Jun 27, 2026.

No good deed or sin is small

“Do not look down on any good deed.”

The khateeb, at 27:50

The khutbah in 7 steps

  1. The earthquake of the Hour and the resurrection of all people from every grave
  2. Gold and silver will be worthless, and sinners will regret what they killed and cut family ties for
  3. People will be raised in the state they died: the martyr fragrant with musk, others in their sins
  4. The earth, angels, and even our own limbs will testify against us
  5. Every person will stand alone before Allah with their book of deeds and see the Fire before them
  6. No good deed is too small to protect from Hellfire, and no sin is too small to accumulate
  7. Concluding dua asking Allah to benefit the congregation

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that the Day of Judgment will be real, overwhelming, and completely accountable. Everything we do and say is recorded, and even the earth and our own limbs will testify about our actions. This should help us remember Allah’s watchfulness, including when we are alone. The khateeb encouraged us never to dismiss small good deeds, such as charity, helping a neighbor, giving water, or smiling. At the same time, we should not ignore small sins, because repeated small actions can grow into something serious.

  1. What is one small good deed you could do for someone in our family today?
  2. Why do you think a smile or a little charity can still matter to Allah?
  3. What is one small habit you would like to improve before it grows bigger?
