Trust Allah while taking the means

“The more I know about Allah azawajal, the stronger my tawakul is.”

The khateeb, at 23:38

In one sentence

The khutbah argues that Surah Hud 11:123 teaches pure tawhid and tawakkul: because Allah alone knows and controls the unseen, believers should worship Him, take responsible means, and remain content with His decree.

Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah focused on the final ayah of Surah Hud, which reminds us that Allah alone knows the unseen and that every affair returns to Him. Because of that, we should worship Allah, rely on Him, and not let fear of people or worldly losses make us compromise our faith. The khateeb illustrated this with companions and scholars, a widowed mother who trusted Allah to provide, and believers facing severe hardship. Tawakkul does not mean sitting still: Musa struck the sea and Maryam shook the tree, showing that we take available means while trusting Allah with the result. At home, we can strengthen this trust by learning about Allah, avoiding charms and astrology, saying the leaving-home supplication, and accepting that His wisdom may differ from our wishes.
