For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that sadness is part of life, and even difficult moments can bring us closer to Allah. Being mindful means paying attention to the moment we are in while remembering Allah and letting that awareness guide our choices. Instead of wishing we lived in another time or place, we can worship Allah, help others, and stand for justice where we are now. Dhul Qa'da gives us time to prepare our hearts for Dhul Hijjah by reducing distractions and turning our attention toward Allah. Ibrahim and his son taught us to follow good deeds with du'a for acceptance, to ask Allah to keep us faithful, and to pray for our children and future generations.

  1. What is one moment tomorrow when you could put distractions aside and remember Allah?
  2. What is one kind or fair thing our family could do for someone this week?
  3. Following Ibrahim's example, what du'a would you like to make for our family and future generations?
