Musa’s courage offers a path through oppression

“Wa la dhamban illa ghaffartah, wa la daynan illa qadaita, wa la madlwman illa nasartah.”

The khateeb, at 28:44

In one sentence

The khutbah teaches that Musa’s confrontation with Pharaoh offers Muslims a pattern for confronting oppression: remain faithful, seek righteous support, trust Allah’s plan, and sustain prayer and justice.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  1. Opens with praise, testimony, blessings on the Prophet, and reminders of accountability for every deed.
  2. Surveys prophetic stories before focusing on Musa, Pharaoh, and the oppression of Bani Israel.
  3. Describes Pharaoh’s arrogance, division, and tyranny, connecting the theme to suffering among contemporary Muslim communities.
  4. Draws lessons about trusting Allah, planning wisely, showing patience, and seeking righteous helpers such as Harun.
  5. Urges continued prayer, worship, Qur’an-based learning, solidarity, justice, and resistance to communal division.
  6. Closes with supplication, the command to practice justice and ihsan, congregational prayer, and a community announcement.
