For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that remembering Allah can be part of our everyday lives, especially in the morning and evening. The khateeb compared remembrance to a fortress where a person finds protection from an enemy. He encouraged us to learn supplications for moments such as leaving home and entering the masjid, and to say them with belief and sincerity. He also spoke about asking Allah for forgiveness by acknowledging His blessings and admitting our mistakes. His practical advice was to start with one or two remembrances and gradually add more, so we can help each other begin with something manageable.

  1. What does the khutbah’s fortress image make you picture when you think about remembering Allah?
  2. Which daily moment could remind you to pause and remember Allah?
  3. What blessing would you like to thank Allah for tonight?
