The khutbah taught that honoring our parents is a command from Allah and one of the greatest acts of worship after affirming His oneness. True ihsan means speaking gently, making time for our parents, serving them before they ask, and remaining patient as they grow older. We should obey them in what is right, repair strained relationships, and never give them only the tired or irritated part of ourselves. Honoring parents continues after their death through dua, charity, paying their debts, and maintaining their relationships. The khateeb also reminded parents to guide children with mercy and wisdom so the home becomes a place of peace and love.

  1. What is one helpful thing you could do for a parent before being asked?
  2. When do your phone or friends receive time that you could share with family?
  3. What words or actions help our home feel peaceful and loving?
