Oppression cannot defeat the truth
“A huge defeat for the Zionist regime and a huge point of victory for the Palestinians and the Muslims.”
The announced ceasefire should be understood through faith as evidence that oppression cannot defeat truth, while Muslims must remain principled, support the oppressed, and work together for Allah.
The khutbah in 7 steps
- Gratitude for recognized and overlooked blessings, especially faith, Islam, the Qur’an, and Jumu’ah.
- Reminder that death’s timing is unknowable, but people can choose how to live before meeting Allah.
- Prayer for oppressed communities and reflection on the Gaza ceasefire and Palestinian history.
- Argument that the campaign against Palestinians has exposed oppression and awakened worldwide support.
- Warning that Muslim principles and goals must not be defined by outside allies or political actors.
- Qur’anic assurance that those spending wealth against Allah’s path will regret it and ultimately lose.
- Closing prayers for Palestine, the ummah, service to Allah, collective strength, and guidance.
In the khateeb's words
“But you and I have the choice for how we live our lives so that when we leave this world, we are insha'Allah going to a better world and a better life.”
“The sole purpose is to extinguish the light of Allah. And Allah will have His light pierced through, no matter how much they spend.”
“A huge defeat for the Zionist regime and a huge point of victory for the Palestinians and the Muslims.”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminded us to be grateful for blessings we often overlook, especially faith, the Qur’an, and the ability to worship. We cannot choose when death comes, but we can choose to live in a way that pleases Allah. The khateeb reflected on Palestine, saying the suffering has exposed injustice and awakened people around the world, while reminding Muslims to keep their principles and leadership rooted in Islam. He urged us to pray for the oppressed, serve Allah, and work together to bring people closer to Him.
- What is one blessing we sometimes take for granted?
- How can our family support people who are suffering?
- What is one way we can work together to do something Allah loves?
