Make summer spiritually strong

“Perfection is in realizing you made a mistake and turning back.”

The khateeb, at 40:53

Muslims should make summer spiritually strong by guarding their gaze, practicing courteous public conduct, and structuring free time around prayer, family, activity, and community.

The khutbah in 5 steps

  4. Frames restrained, courteous public conduct as da'wah and strong character.
  5. Urges an active, structured summer with less screen time, family outings, prayer, Qur'an, and community ties.

Sheikh Abdullah reminded us that summer can be a time of fun while we stay close to Allah. He encouraged us to guard our gaze, including when we use screens, and to turn back to Allah when we make mistakes. In public places, we should avoid bothering others, keep spaces clean, and respond kindly to greetings. He also encouraged families to spend time together outdoors instead of spending the whole day watching or scrolling. A little daily structure for prayer, Quran, and community can help us enjoy the summer while keeping our faith strong.

  1. What outdoor activity could we enjoy together this week?
  2. How could we make our next visit to a park kinder and more comfortable for other people?
  3. What could help us keep praying on time when our summer schedule changes?
