For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that the last ten nights of Ramadan are a precious opportunity to increase our worship and help our families do the same. He described how i‘tikaf gives us time away from everyday distractions to dedicate ourselves to Allah. He warned that staying awake is not enough if we spend the night backbiting and lose the reward we worked to earn. He encouraged us to treat each Ramadan as possibly our last and to grow in Quran reading, remembrance, charity, and sincere dua. We can begin with a few quiet minutes away from our phones, some focused prayer before suhoor, and a sincere effort to keep asking Allah for closeness.

  1. What is one act of worship you would like us to make time for together during the last ten nights?
  2. How could you help a conversation stay kind when someone who is absent gets mentioned?
  3. What would you like to ask Allah for during a few quiet minutes of dua?
