Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that Allah's mercy should shape how we treat everyone, especially the people in our homes. The Prophet showed that affection toward children, kissing them, playing with them, and listening to them, is part of faith, not weakness. We should try to answer unkindness with goodness because we want Allah to treat us with mercy, while still keeping appropriate boundaries. We can live this message by making our homes gentler through deliberate kindness, mercy, and generosity.

  1. Who in our family might need extra mercy and kindness from us?
  2. What is one way we can show affection or listen better this week?
  3. How can we be kind while still keeping healthy boundaries?
