Gaza should awaken gratitude and action
“Continue to post on social media. Continue to have your conversations. Continue to call your elected officials. Continue to pressure people in the ways that you can.”
Gaza’s suffering should awaken gratitude, moral clarity, compassionate da'wah, sustained advocacy, deeper worship, and trust in Allah’s promised justice and near victory.
The khutbah in 7 steps
- The khateeb urges gratitude for everyday blessings by contrasting listeners’ safety and healthcare with Gaza’s deprivation.
- He reminds listeners of death, accountability, and Allah’s ultimate justice for both the oppressed and their oppressors.
- He argues that humanitarian aid alone is insufficient without ending occupation, violence, and impunity.
- Using Dajjal and Ibrahim as examples, he calls listeners to reject distorted narratives and popular falsehood.
- He urges compassionate, wise conversations with people whose consciences are beginning to awaken.
- He calls for social-media advocacy, conversations, contacting elected officials, dua, stronger Fajr, mosque attendance, longer sujood, and a deeper relationship with the Qur’an.
- He closes with prayers for Gaza, Palestine, and other suffering communities.
In the khateeb's words
“all of them face justice in this world and in the next.”
“We speak in a beautiful way to guide people to the truth.”
“And Gaza is not meant to make us feel good because we see how strong the people are there.”
“Continue to post on social media. Continue to have your conversations. Continue to call your elected officials. Continue to pressure people in the ways that you can.”
For the dinner table
Allah has given us many blessings, including safety, family, health, food, and the ability to worship freely. The khutbah asks us to remember people in Gaza whose access to these blessings has been taken away, and to trust that Allah will bring justice. We should speak about oppression truthfully but with wisdom and compassion, especially when someone’s conscience is beginning to awaken. We can continue advocacy, conversations, contacting officials, and dua. We should also let this suffering bring us closer to Fajr, the mosque, longer sujood, and the Qur’an.
- Which blessing do you want to thank Allah for more intentionally this week?
- How can we speak kindly and truthfully about suffering when someone disagrees with us?
- What is one prayer or action our family can commit to this week?
