Gratitude preserves Allah's blessings

“If you are thankful for a blessing you have, Allah will help you preserve it.”

The khateeb, at 8:42

For the dinner table

This khutbah teaches that every blessing we have comes from Allah, and we should recognize it, thank Him, and use it well. Gratitude is not only something we say; it should shape how we spend our money, care for our health, follow guidance, and protect the world around us. The speaker also explains that being upset or raising a complaint is not automatically ingratitude. A good complaint seeks to fix a problem or offer useful feedback, while gossip and endless venting leave things worse. We can bring our sadness to Allah, as Ya'qub did, and still work respectfully to improve what is wrong.

  1. What is one blessing you can thank Allah for today, and how can you use it well?
  2. How can you tell the difference between helping fix a problem and simply complaining?
  3. Who can you talk to when you are sad, and how can you ask for help respectfully?
