For the dinner table

Shukr means noticing Allah's blessings and thanking Him in every situation, not only when life is easy. The khutbah reminds us that health, safety, food, family, friends, and ordinary comforts are gifts, not things we are owed. When hardship comes, we can stay patient, remember Allah, and ask for protection and relief instead of letting small complaints control us. This week, let us name a few blessings each morning or night, sincerely say Alhamdulillah, and make dua for people facing suffering.

  1. What is one small blessing you noticed today?
  2. How can we show gratitude when something does not go our way?
  3. Who can we remember in our prayers tonight?
