Use your senses to strengthen faith

In one sentence

Guidance enters the heart through seeing, hearing, and reflection, so believers should consciously engage their senses with the Quran, creation, and daily choices to strengthen iman.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  1. Allah created the eyes, ears, and mind as entry points through which guidance reaches the heart.
  2. The Quran calls believers to observe creation, history, death, and judgment through vivid imagery.
  3. Iman settles through conviction, speech, bodily action, and cultivated reflection on consequences.
  4. Sinful influences stain the heart, while rejecting temptation preserves moral clarity.
  5. Daily scenes, seasons, travel, school, work, and relationships can move a person closer to Jannah or Hellfire.
  6. Parents and young people should practice connecting observed signs in creation with the Quran and purposeful action.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that what we see, hear, and think about can shape the condition of our hearts. Allah invites us to observe creation, reflect on the Qur’an’s vivid images, and learn from people and civilizations that came before us. Faith becomes stronger when it involves our whole selves, our hearts, words, senses, and actions. Reflection helps us notice Allah’s blessings, remember where our choices lead, and resist wrongdoing before it takes root. Each day at school, work, or home can become a journey toward Allah when we use our eyes, ears, and actions with care.

  1. What did you see or hear today that reminded you of Allah?
  2. How could pausing to think ahead change one choice you make this week?
  3. What is one thing you want to protect your eyes or ears from, and what could you choose instead?
