For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah shared four pieces of advice from the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him: spread salam, feed others, maintain family ties, and pray at night while others sleep. The khateeb encouraged us to greet people at the masjid and take time to get to know them. He reminded us to help people with care and dignity, including giving things we would be happy to receive ourselves, and to offer help regardless of their religion. With relatives, we can make the effort to reach out kindly while leaving the response to Allah. Even two short rak'ahs at night can be a meaningful step, and the khutbah connected these four practices with entering Jannah in peace.

  1. Who could you greet with salam so they feel more welcome?
  2. If you were choosing a meal or clothes to give someone, how would you make it feel thoughtful?
  3. Which relative could we send a kind message to this week, and what could we say?
