For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that being a good Muslim is not only about prayer, fasting, Quran, or charity; it is also about how people experience us. An ideal citizen benefits others, keeps trusts, respects neighbors' rights, cares for public property, obeys laws, and deals honestly. Small acts, learning a neighbor's name, helping an elderly person, removing litter, parking farther away, driving safely, and telling the truth, can be worship when done for Allah. We should look for ways to make life safer and easier for others, even when nobody sees us. The imam said the remaining qualities will continue next Friday.

  1. What is one helpful thing you could do for a neighbor this week?
  2. When is it hardest to tell the truth?
