For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that Muslims are meant to support and protect one another, both nearby and around the world. The khateeb warned that comfort and self-interest can make us forget people who are suffering. Worship includes serving Allah, caring for our families, and serving humanity through meaningful action. Unity requires us to resist divisions based on politics, race, nationality, wealth, or social status. Each of us should examine whether our choices contribute to oppression or help bring relief, justice, and dignity.

  1. Who might need our family’s help even though we do not see their struggles every day?
  2. How can we make our du‘as less focused on ourselves and more caring toward others?
