Make the masjid your first home
“The Masjid has to become your focal point.”
The masjid should become a believer’s true first home and the spiritual, educational, social, and communal center of Muslim family life.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Defines masajid as spaces founded on taqwa, contrasting spiritually alive mosques with empty physical structures.
- Explains the mosque’s role in worship, education, family formation, social relationships, and community services.
- Urges believers to visit regularly, bring children, and seek Allah’s blessing through communal presence.
- Connects attachment to the masjid with purification and embodying beauty for neighbors and society.
- Shares the ICPC Quran program as an example and calls the community to invest time, resources, and ownership.
- Closes with prayers for forgiveness, guidance, Palestine, Sudan, and suffering communities.
In the khateeb's words
“if you want a space brothers and sisters in this dunya to realize the fullness of who you are as a believer and for your children then the Masjid has to become your focal point”
“Wallahi l'Azim Allah will open up doors of Barakah that are unparalleled you could have never fathomed because Yadullahi ma'al jama'a”
“I want to be a beautiful person I want to bring a lot of beauty to the world that I live in”
“this is my home I'm gonna make sure this home the house of Allah is a profoundly remarkable sophisticated cutting-edge space”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that the masjid should be more than a place for Friday prayer; it should be our first home and the center of our spiritual and communal life. The Prophet’s example shows how mosques nurture worship, learning, relationships, and service. We are encouraged to visit even during quiet hours, bring our children, and make the masjid part of their joyful Quran and community life. When believers gather and take responsibility for the house of Allah, Allah can open doors of blessing and help us bring beauty to society. The khutbah closes by asking Allah to forgive us, guide us, and relieve suffering in Palestine, Sudan, and elsewhere.
- What would make our family want to spend more time at the masjid?
- How can we help someone else feel welcome and connected at the masjid?
- What does bringing beauty to our neighbors look like this week?
