Eternal deeds matter more than worldly time

“When we realize it deep in our hearts that Allah is the doer, then we trust His doing.”

The khateeb, at 3:57

In one sentence

Because Allah is the true doer and worldly time is fleeting compared with the afterlife, believers should increase worship and remembrance, trust Him, and invest in deeds with eternal consequences.

The khateeb reminded us that Allah is in control of our lives, including our sleep and waking. He encouraged us to seek nur, or light, through the Qur'an, remembering Allah, prayer, and obedience to Him. He connected growing closer to Allah with deeper trust in Him and less worry about what happens in our lives. He also asked us to notice how the next ten years can seem long while the past ten years feel short, reminding us how brief this life is compared with the next. His message was to use our time for good deeds and remembrance of Allah, because those actions have lasting significance.
