For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that du'a and remembering Allah help protect our hearts when life becomes distracting. He encouraged us to begin the day by thanking Allah and to learn the du'as for waking up, entering the bathroom, and leaving it. Ordinary blessings, like sleeping and being able to relieve ourselves, give us reasons to be grateful and humble. He also reminded us to be compassionate toward people in distress and avoid judging their faith by words spoken during painful moments. We should ask Allah for afiyah, meaning well-being, for ourselves, our families, and people who are sick.

  1. What everyday blessing did you notice today that you usually forget to thank Allah for?
  2. How could we help each other remember Allah when we first wake up?
  3. What could you say or do to comfort someone having a difficult day?
