Small deeds build lasting worship
“Trust the process, the process is what matters.”
In one sentence
A successful year in Allah's sight is measured by sincere effort and small, consistent deeds, especially Qur'an, fasting, prayer, and mercy, that prepare us for Ramadan and the Hereafter.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- New Year reflection invites review of regrets, achievements, and hopes.
- Islamic success prioritizes effort, process, and intention over visible outcomes.
- Passing time should inspire repentance and hopeful readiness to meet Allah.
- Consistent small deeds of worship and service build capacity for major sacrifices.
- Bilal and Prophetic examples show how daily habits produce steadfastness and mercy.
- Begin Ramadan preparation now through daily Qur'an, regular fasting, and prayer stamina.

Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“They're not based on outcomes and numbers, they're based on the process. Trust the process, the process is what matters.”
“That you don't have to torture yourself, you don't have to hurt yourself, to feel like I've earned some reward with Allah, I've earned Allah's love.”
“This ihsan and these big moments are made through who you are in the small moments.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
At the start of a new year, the khateeb encouraged us to measure our lives by sincere effort and consistent deeds, not only by big achievements. Allah values small acts done regularly, including prayer, Qur'an, mercy, and helping people in need. We can prepare for Ramadan now by building three habits: a daily Qur'an connection, regular fasting, and stamina in salah. Even when no one notices these deeds, Allah sees them, and they can prepare us for greater moments of worship and sacrifice.
- What small good deed could we make part of our family routine?
- How can we prepare our Qur'an, fasting, and prayer habits before Ramadan?
- When have you helped someone without expecting recognition?
