Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“Not just to lament. We lament that. It's a great part of our history. It's a sad part of our history. But we also take a lesson from it.”
“He didn't ask for a position. He didn't ask for anything. He said, it's okay. Justice has been done. Now I don't want one of these options.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminded us to love the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his family. The khateeb spoke about the Prophet’s love for Hassan and Hussain and the sadness of Hussain’s martyrdom. He encouraged us to remember this history and bring its lessons into our own lives. He especially highlighted standing for justice and helping without seeking a position, praise, or credit. As a family, we can practice these lessons by treating people fairly, supporting those who are mistreated, and doing good while seeking Allah’s reward.
- What is one thing you would like to learn about the Prophet’s love for his family?
- When someone is treated unfairly, what could you do to help?
- What kind thing could you do this week even if nobody thanked you?
