For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Islam makes Muslims one family, beyond race, wealth, nationality, or social rank. Allah gives love to hearts, but we must protect that love by avoiding insults, gossip, slander, oppression, dishonesty, and other harm. We should help one another in goodness and refuse to support sin, while forgiving people and remembering the kind of legacy we leave behind. The Prophet treated his companions with closeness and dignity, and we should honor every person while beginning with care for our own community. We were also reminded to listen attentively during the Jumu'ah khutbah and not let our phones take away its reward.
