Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that a central purpose of marriage is to find peace and help one another feel calm. The khateeb described how Khadija comforted the Prophet when he returned frightened after the first revelation, then reassured him by naming the good she knew in him. He encouraged spouses to notice each other’s strengths and offer compliments consistently. He also described Khadija’s support through hardship and the Prophet’s continuing love for her after she died. As a family, we can practice these lessons by listening carefully, speaking kindly, and helping one another feel supported.

  1. What helps you feel comforted when you come home upset or worried?
  2. What is one good quality you have noticed in someone at this table, and when did you see it?
  3. How could you help make our home more peaceful this week?
