For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that thanking Allah is a daily act of worship. Gratitude means recognizing in our hearts that blessings come from Allah, thanking Him with our words, and using His gifts in ways that please Him. The khateeb encouraged us to notice blessings beyond money and food, including health, safety, time, and knowledge. He reminded us to share what we have and to avoid letting comparisons with people who have more make us forget our own blessings. As a family, we can ask Allah to help us be thankful and choose one way each day to put that thankfulness into action.

  1. What blessing did you enjoy today that you might usually overlook?
  2. How could you use your time or something you know to help someone this week?
  3. When you wish you had something someone else has, what helps you appreciate your own blessings?
