Allah’s guidance grows through the Quran
“Allah's guidance to creation is one of the greatest blessings of Allah.”
Guidance is Allah’s greatest blessing, rooted in humanity’s natural disposition and found through sincere turning to Allah and reflective engagement with the Qur’an.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Presents guidance to Islam as Allah’s greatest blessing and an effect of His names.
- Distinguishes guidance through explanation from guidance that turns the heart, which belongs to Allah.
- Explains fitrah and how stubbornness, desires, and worldly attachments obstruct guidance.
- Identifies the Qur’an as the Prophet’s enduring greatest miracle and a source of light, healing, and guidance.
- Urges listeners to read and contemplate the Qur’an, examine themselves by its descriptions, and seek Allah’s help.
- Concludes with supplications for guidance, protection, and oppressed Muslims, including Palestine.
In the khateeb's words
“Allah's guidance to creation is one of the greatest blessings of Allah in which the meanings of His mercy His forgiveness and His generosity become manifest”
“the existence of a miracle does not mean that people will believe one more time the existence of a miracle does not mean that people will believe the moon was split”
“the greatest miracle that Allah gave me is this eternal everlasting preserved book that will remain until the day of resurrection”
For the dinner table
Today the khateeb said that being guided to Islam is the greatest blessing Allah can give anyone, and that it comes from Allah's love and mercy for His servants. He explained that every child is born on the fitrah, a natural readiness to believe in one Allah, and that people move away from it when it gets covered over. He described two kinds of guidance: the prophets could show people the way, but only Allah can turn a heart. That is why some people saw great miracles, like the moon splitting, and still did not believe, because they did not want Allah. He reminded us that the Prophet's greatest miracle is the Quran, which is still with us today and brings light, healing and peace to anyone who really opens their heart to it. He asked us to read it, think about it, compare ourselves to what it says, and keep asking Allah sincerely to guide us and keep us on His path.
- What is one thing you just know is wrong, even though nobody had to tell you?
- If you could ask Allah for help with one thing in your heart this week, what would it be?
- Which verse or surah of the Quran makes you feel calm or makes you think, and why?
