Keep worldly comforts temporary

MCC · Hamza AbuMuadh

“Your goal in this dunya is to worship me.”

The khateeb, at 20:10

In one sentence

Muslims must keep the pleasures of this world in their hands as temporary provisions, never letting comfort or desire become an idol that outweighs obedience to Allah and the pursuit of the Hereafter.

For the dinner table

The khutbah compared this worldly life to a temporary tree on the way to an everlasting city. Allah allows us to enjoy the blessings of this world, but our destination and greatest goal must remain the Hereafter and His pleasure. The danger is not having wealth, comfort, family, or success; it is loving them more than Allah and allowing our desires to replace His command. Tawheed means that belief in Allah shapes how we live, choose, and respond every day. We should keep the dunya in our hands rather than letting it settle in our hearts, while racing toward forgiveness and Jannah.

  1. What is one good thing in this world that you enjoy without letting it distract you from Allah?
  2. How can we show this week that Allah's command matters more than our comfort?
  3. What does it mean to keep the dunya in your hand instead of your heart?
