GratitudeFrom the masjid's own video, Jul 18, 2026.
Allah never abandons His servants
“You have just turned your face away from Allah.”
In one sentence
Allah never abandons or is displeased with His servants to the point of leaving them, and He will reward their good fully, so believers should respond with hope, gratitude, and compassion toward the vulnerable.
The khutbah in 8 steps
- Opening reflection on absence making the heart grow fonder, connecting the pause in revelation to the Prophet's anxiety
- Tafsir of Surah Ad-Duha: Allah swears by the busy morning and the still night
- Allah's reassurance that He has not abandoned nor is displeased with the Prophet
- The hereafter and what follows hardship will be better than what came before
- Allah will give the full reward for good deeds, even if not immediately visible
- Reminders of Allah's past care: finding the Prophet orphan, lost, and needy, then sheltering, guiding, and enriching him
- Commands flowing from gratitude: do not oppress orphans, do not rebuke beggars, and proclaim Allah's blessings
- Closing call to recognize that one's complaint can be another's dua, and to look harder to see Allah's presence
Try this week
Review the past week and list good things you did not deserve but Allah gave you anyway
Do not oppress or dismiss orphans
Do not rebuke or turn away those who ask for help
Proclaim and speak about the blessings Allah has given you
When you feel Allah is absent, look harder for His care rather than concluding He has left
Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“Allah wants better for you than you can ever owe Allah the worship that He deserves.”
“Allah will never leave you. You have just turned your face away from Allah.”
