For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that tawakkul means relying on Allah completely. It does not mean ignoring planning or effort; the Prophet used careful strategies during the hijrah while keeping his heart attached only to Allah. We should use our minds and take the available means, but remember that Allah is the One who gives those means their effects and success. Life is full of entrances and exits, so we can ask Allah to help us move through every change with truthfulness and faith. A simple way to practice this is to recite the leaving-home supplication each day.

  1. What is something you can plan for while still trusting Allah?
  2. When do you feel most worried, and what could help your heart remember Allah?
  3. What does tawakkul look like when you leave home for school or work?
