For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us to thank Allah for Ramadan and to ask Him to accept our fasting, prayers, charity, and other good deeds. Ramadan trains our hearts, but its lessons are meant to continue throughout the year. We can carry forward a steady habit such as reading a few ayahs, praying regularly, fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, giving charity, or serving the community. Fasting also teaches sincerity because we obey Allah even when nobody else can see us. Eid is a joyful time for family and community, and its happiness should include poor people, widows, orphans, and anyone who may feel alone.

  1. What is one good Ramadan habit you would like our family to keep this year?
  2. How can remembering that Allah sees us help when nobody else is watching?
  3. Who in our community might need friendship, food, charity, or practical help from us?
